Château Tour de Pez: A Great Wine for the Future in the Heart of Saint-Estèphe. In the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Tour de Pez stands out as one of the Médoc’s discreet gems. Long overshadowed by its renowned neighbours, it is now emerging as a great wine for the future, driven by an exceptional terroir and a resolutely forward-looking vision. An Ancient History, Between Heritage and Transmission The earliest records of the estate date back to the 17th century, on a site already recognised for the quality of its soils. Tour de Pez shared its early history with the great neighbouring properties of Saint-Estèphe, within a terroir already considered remarkable. In the 18th century, a reference to the “Lhériteyre house” suggests the existence of an heiress who inherited part of the vineyard. By 1838, the estate was identified as a classified growth under various names, reflecting its early recognition. In 1931, the Soulard family gave the estate its definitive name: Château Tour de Pez. Two years later, a significant transformation marked its history with the demolition of the former medieval tower as part of modernisation works. A Move Toward Independence and Quality A major turning point came in 1989 when the Bouchara family acquired the estate. Château Tour de Pez left the Saint-Estèphe cooperative cellar to develop its own identity. This new phase marked a gradual rise in quality: modernisation of facilities, estate bottling, and the affirmation of an independent style. The wine gained recognition and visibility. A Renaissance Within a Major Médoc Group After several ownership changes, the estate joined the Vignobles de Larose group in 2019, which immediately recognised its exceptional potential. A structured development and enhancement strategy was launched, allowing Château Tour de Pez to reclaim its rightful place among the Saint-Estèphe crus. In 2020, the estate was confirmed in the Cru Bourgeois classification, recognising the quality and consistency of its wines. A Terroir Geared Toward the Future Today, Château Tour de Pez spans 18 hectares of diverse soils: fine gravel gravelly sands clay-limestone This typical Saint-Estèphe terroir has a valuable strength: it adapts remarkably well to current climate challenges, making it a vineyard truly suited for the future. A Committed and Demanding Viticulture Today, the estate operates under a clear philosophy: precision, excellence, and respect for the living world. Committed to a High Environmental Value approach and a structured CSR policy, Château Tour de Pez places sustainability at the heart of its development. Every decision follows a single objective: to reveal the finesse and balance of a singular terroir while preparing the vineyard for the future. A Refined and Accessible Signature The estate offers two complementary expressions of its identity: Château Tour de Pez Les Hauts de Pez These wines reflect the estate’s dual nature: rooted in Médoc tradition while pursuing modern elegance.
