Quinta Casal de Celeirós, known as Quinta do Portal since 1994, is situated at an altitude of 550 metres. The estate comprises the main property together with Quinta do Confradeiro, covering a total of 45 hectares. The vineyards, with an average age of around 25 years, are planted with a selection of traditional Portuguese grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Viosinho, Gouveio and Moscatel, a variety particularly associated with the region. The vineyards surrounding The Manor House Celeirós form part of the distinctive landscape of the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Grown on schist soils and shaped by the steep slopes of the Douro Valley, they reflect centuries of viticultural knowledge passed down through generations. The Douro is a region of climatic extremes, with long, hot, dry summers and cold winters. These demanding conditions have challenged generations of winegrowers to adapt their practices, resulting in wines renowned for their concentration, structure and exceptional ageing potential.
