The village of Celeirós

Point of interest

The village of Celeirós is situated 5 km from Sabrosa, the municipal seat. It has been renowned since 1756 for producing outstanding fortified wine and for its privileged location, which offers panoramic views over the Pinhão River valley. In 1756, its white wine was classified as vinho de feitoria (factory wine), a designation reserved for wines of exceptional quality. Celeirós is also home to several manor houses of considerable architectural significance. Visitors can admire two remarkable custodians of Portuguese sacred art: the Custódia de Campainhas, housed in the Parish Church, and the 18th-century Custódia of the Chapel of St Francis.
