It is said that beneath every estate in Arruda dos Vinhos lies a Roman villa. There are many testimonies of the Romans' presence in these parts, reflecting their passion for the nectar of the gods, not only because of the fertility these lands demonstrated but also because of their geographical location, which made these lands one of the most important routes for wine trade.
