INNOVATION CASE – Marketing, Experiences and Services | Accessibility and Inclusiveness
Ca’ di Rajo
Starting year:
Involved subjects: Winery
Innovation area: Marketing | Accessibility and Inclusiveness
Objectives
To offer the wine tourism experience accessible to persons with handicaps and to improve the overall wine tourism experience for all customers.
Summary
The Ca’ di Rajo winery implemented several actions to improve its wine tourism offer, especially directed toward accessibility, but not limited to it.
First, they implemented multisensory tours such as tactile paths and sensory tasting. The tactile maps are designed to offer an inclusive and immersive experience for visitors, particularly those who are visually impaired. This project integrates sensory experiences that go beyond sight, allowing visitors to engage with the winery and its surroundings through touch, smell, and hearing. The sensory tasting instead is designed to emphasise aromas and flavours, helping visitors to focus on the sensory aspects of the wine.
Second, they use advanced technology such as interactive audio guides and apps. The winery in fact provides audio guides that describe the history, the winemaking process, and the characteristics of the wines. These guides are available in several languages and are useful both for visually impaired people and for those who prefer a more autonomous experience. A mobile application was also implemented to provide real-time vocal and visual information, enhancing accessibility for people with hearing and visual impairments.
Third, particularly important for the winery is also the physical accessibility. The winery is equipped with restrooms, ramps and elevators that facilitate access to the different areas of the facility for people with reduced mobility.
Results
The provided services assure the wine tourism experience to be accessible also to customers with physical handicaps. In addition, the provision of some of these services improved the experience also for the other customers, which can benefit from additional services/activities to the ‘standard’ ones.
